my hero, Izumi Ishii of Futo Japan
This image says it all. This picture was taken as Izumi was telling of his conversion to realizing who dolphins really are. The sorrow and remorse he feels is etched on his face.
His family lineage of being proud and hard working fishermen included rounding up and slaughtering dolphins for multiple generations. But then a miracle happened. When a dolphin squeezed it's eyes shut and a tear came out right as Izumi was ready to slit its throat, Izumi's world tilted. In that one moment, he knew he could not do this anymore. He stopped and life became difficult for him for a while with the other fishermen but now, he has a successful dolphin watching boat service in Futo and dolphins are no longer killed there. In Taiji Japan, in the notorious Cove (same as featured in the Oscar winning movie, The Cove), dolphins are again being decimated. The killing slowed down, and now is picking up speed again. World wide protesting and documenting the horrid affair does not stop it.
So I am sending out a Call to Love. Love the fishermen who "know not what they do." Let's send them waves and waves of December 2012 love and help them remember their connection to the spirit of the dolphin which they have become deadened to. If Mr. Ishii can have such a monumental epiphany, so can others. Hating the fishermen and wanting to force them to change only worsens things. But Love . . . .ah, THAT is a different matter.
Last night before I went to sleep, I conjured up all the ones on the planet who recognize who dolphins are and understand what they contribute to life and play and joy on this planet. I gathered us high up above Taiji, and imagined our beaming an unimagineable love and acceptance to the fishermen. It became very real. Everything is so accelerated right now, I think amazing things are possible. Imagination is a power to be reckoned with.
I would like to request that you join me in the odd moments throughout the day to think love to the fishermen who know not what they do. The more vivid the feeling of love you can conjure, the better. It really concentrates when more do it. Don't think of sorrow and anger, but of the wonderful spirits of the dolphins which are eternal. This is a most powerful approach. It requires much self discipline, but we can summon that. It is easy to be mad and revolted. But it is holy to remember the truth that cannot end or be killed. Thank you in advance. I am right by your side as you participate.
