Evergreen - Our Healing Potential

3/11/2013

Picture
Limitless. When I think of what is our potential for being healed (and healing ourselves, and allowing ourselves to be healed), that is the word that comes to mind. Limitless. There is no limit as to what is possible. What makes it look like there are limits is our addiction to linear time (our ideas about how long anything takes) and our identification with ourselves as being primarily our body. Even though illness and imbalance starts in the mind, emotions and spirit, if it does not get balanced out, it eventually lands in the body.

Our body is our good friend. Our body is our servant. Our body is our constant reminder of what we are doing here on earth, and why. But we are not the vehicle itself, so therefore, when I say, our potential for healing is unlimited, I mean if you take into account that it will take what it takes to become 'healed.' It may take more than one lifetime, so dropping the body along the way may be. part of the ultimate healing we are after. Or not. We never know.

So I say, let us not fret about how long healing might take, or in which body it will occur, and let's just move on to what is healing anyhow. I would best describe it as becoming whole. Becoming of a piece, one cloth, body, soul, mind and spirit. I would further describe it as no resistence to anything and an utter flowing with the truth of your inner being.

Those fortunate moments when I am in that flow, time stops, and I do not care whether I am in my body or moving beyond it because I know it is a garment. A precious garment, one I am fond of, but a garment none the less.

There is a paradox here. The less you focus on illness or any kind of physical imbalance and tune into your eternal self (the 'you' you couldn't get rid of if you tried), the healthier you will tend to be. Honor the body in all the healthy ways you know about and then, don't think about it all that much.

There are those with great debilities, or dealing with enormous physical challenges and it would be hard indeed to be blithe about one's health under those circumstances but even, then, if you find the perspective of being an eternal being having a temporary experience, you might be surprised at what kind of miracles could manifest.

I had the privilege of visiting with a Phillipino psychic healer once who was able to just sink his hands into flesh like putting them into water. He carried so much light that just being in his presence was healing in and of itself. He saw people tirelessly from early in the morning until late, doing all manner of "surgery." Every so often, he had to say no to someone. The reason for his turning them down was that he could tell that their condition was karmic in nature and they were working something through in this lifetime, and he was not to interfere even though he could have. The condition in these cases he said were desired by the soul, and not a punishment, but a means of balancing. I have never forgotten this great man.

When I think of health, I think of the color green, the color of balance, the color right in the middle of the rainbow spectrum so, that being the case, may we all become, sooner or later . . . evergreen. Health is our birthrite, but we must claim it. by knowing it is not limited to the physical body nor to the dictates of that tyrant, linear time..

Taking Off is Easy, It's The Landing You Need to Master

3/9/2013

All of life is just one big learning curve. The learning never stops, and if you think it has stopped, you better check your pulse.

People's attitudes about learning range far and wide. There are different stages of learning and people as individuals are usually more attracted to one of the stages than to the others. For example, I prefer the part of learning where I am beginning to get the hang of something more than the launching where 'I don't know nuthin' nohow.' Some people, by the time they get the hang of something, want to move on to something else. Other people, once they learn something, want to do things that way forever. We are all different (thank goodness).

Here's the thing. In learning anything, the focus in the beginning is on the learning itself. Once you have learned something, and even while you are in the middle of learning, and even in awareness of what motivated you to learn in the first place,  there is the questiion : WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THIS NEW SKILL/APTITUDE/KNOWLEDGE? How are you going to' land' your aircraft, your new knowledge?

Back to referring to when I was in flight school, I still remember how I loved taking off. I even loved what is called 'the run-up' in which you fully rev the engine of the aircraft while it is idling to make sure all systems are working. It felt when I did that I was on the back of a stallion quivering to take off.

Flying itself was wonderful, but then it is time to land. To me, that was the most challenging because I had to take into account the wind, the angle of the runway, altitude of the airport itself, etc. And it was where things could go wrong with the worst results.

In life, what you do with your skills and knowledge is truly make or break time having to do with your feeling you are a success story in your own mind and heart. It doesn't matter what others make of you. You are the one drawing your own assessments of how you used your life, and you are the one you must please by the landings that you have made.

I have watched seagulls land, and pelicans, and even the very very funny gooney birds of Easter Island. It always seems to me, when the landing goes well, the bird emanates an air of satisfaction. I would were I in their feathers.

Really Good Pilots

3/8/2013

Picture
Tybee's 'Control Tower' and a group of grounded pilots
When I went to flight school, there were two very different sets of learning both of which are needed in order to become good pilots. We had to learn to fly based on instruments plus outside visuals, and we had to learn to fly on instruments alone.

A strange thing can happen when you are flying and you cannot see outside due to clouds or fog. You cannot tell if you are going up or down. There is suspicion that that is what happened to John F. Kennedy, Jr. when his plane tragically went down. He could not see outside his plane, something happened to his instruments so he could not read them accurately, and he thought he was going up when he actually was headed straight for the water.

To me, learning to fly is the same as learning to live. When you are in a fog, and you can get no external referrents as to what to do, you rely on your own internal instrumentation, your intuition and your instincts, if you will. You must learn to do that, and you must practice it to get really good at it. There are decision points in life when much is hanging in the balance, and you feel that hesitance because you cannot strictly speaking read what is best to do based on outer signatures of logic and reasoning, much less listening to what others recommend. In the final analysis, we alone are responsible for carving our path. That may sound kind of desolate and lonely but in truth, it is what makes life such an achingly marvelous adventure.

If you are in a fog, may I recommend, if you have the luxury of some time, make an inner journey to get your bearings. Meditate, contemplate, space out, space in, day dream, do anything that keeps you from thinking. If you have to act quickly, you can actually bypass logic and dive directly into your inner knowing. Heroes who save people by acting instantaneously do this all the time. That is flying by instruments alone. It is very exhilarating.

If we have 'snow days', time outs due to snow, I think it makes perfect sense to also have 'fog days' as well. After obscurity comes clarity. It is a rule of life, so say I. Flying taught me this truth.

Death is Safe

3/7/2013

I dreamed last night that I died. Never before do I remember dreaming that. I led dream work classes for 12 years and no one would die in their dreams. They might dream they were about to die, and then they would wake up.

I remember no details from my dream last night about the death itself. I just remember my consciousness being intact afterwards.

On an intellectual level, I have had no fears of death for most of my life. The body though, which is wired to survive, and with which we identify, I think can totally be afraid of its demise, and this fear can reside in the subconscious, unknown to its owner.

Before the part of the dream in which I died (again, details lost), I dreamed someone came for me to put a chloroform soaked rag on my mouth to render me unconscious. In the dream, I fought them off successfully and actually killed them (dreams are so dramatic in making their point!) It was later in dream that I died yet retained my consciousness. Once awake, I realize that by killing the chloroformer, I was saying, I want to be conscious when I transition. I want to stay awake, and then, I did.

When I woke up, I felt the most liberated I can remember feeling in my life. I think what happened in the dream, is that I tackled my body's fear of death, a fear that has been sleeping in my subconscious, limiting me from taking full advantage of the opportunities that life in a body offers for fear my body might come to no good end.

I don't mean to say I am ready to be wreck less about my body. Not at all. It is just that I now KNOW I can afford to go full out in life for what seem to be my soul's  choices. I totally accept and understand, there are no guarantees about much of anything, but I also know, whatever happens, I won't have regrets of having bypassed opportunities.

All I can say about dream last night is . . .thank you. I did not know I was being held back by my own physical vehicle's intense wiring to survive. I am no longer chloroformed into unconsciousness.

Calling All Dolphins

3/6/2013

Picture
off Grand Bahama Banks, calling the spotted dolphins
Yes, I am putting the call out, but not restricted to dolphins in the sea. I am calling 'land dolphins' as well. You know who you are.

It is time, no, make that 'past time' for us to take over. Not as revolutionaires (we do not take ourselves seriously enough to call ourselves that) but as evolutionaries.

And to what might that refer, you ask. Well, the Mayans knew all about evolution of consciousness and how the main job of anyone in a body in a given period of history was here to 'ride the wave' of what the current vibrations were trying to usher in.

Who rides waves better than dolphins, I ask you, and I think the answer is pretty much no one. We humans have some amazing surfers emerging but don't be fooled. They are just pretending to be human. Surfers who totally understand what happens to them when they catch a big wave are completely evolutionary in spirit or, dolphins in disguise. They know that all the power and glory is in the surrender to what the moment offers, and to using each moment to be in balance with the surrounding energies.

Last night I barely slept. That happens sometimes, but I have come to trust it because even though I am not  sleeping per se, I am swimming in layers of awareness. Dolphins rest one half of their brain at a time (so as not to drown) and on my sleepless nights, I sometimes feel I must be doing that because I feel rested the next day. It is a little bit like not wanting to miss out on anything during these transformative times. I will sleep, yes, but the rest of the time, I will surf whatever wave shows up. All those dolphins swimming together off the coast of San Diego were sending out the hue and cry . . . ." wake up your inner dolphin and come swim with us", they seemed to be saying. The waters fine, and evolution is afoot.

Intergrity of a Cell, Integrity of a Soul

3/5/2013

Picture
In life, cells and human personalities are healthiest when they have intact boundaries. Boundaries can appear to be walls that cause separation, and they do, but it is a case of healthy separation that allows for an inner building of identity. You  want a kidney cell not to get  all mixed up with being a liver cell or nothing would get done.

As we think of the spiritual journey of our souls having a human experience, we are at the place of being on the verge of a new way of being together called by some Unitive Consciousness in which, on the level of the soul, there is a recognition we all come from Source and in that way, are One.The shifting from duality awareness where polaities  prevail with lines being drawn all over the place . . .going from there  to Unitive Consciousness is not a simple matter. So many steps of development must be mediated and incorporated. Timing is everything. When It is time for letting go of old boundaries and joining with our oversoul and others in our soul family, we will know that. Until then, boundaries can be our friends because they keep certain inner systems healthy and intact.

Many Light workers are empaths. They come into this lifetime with very poor  psychic boundaries so they frequently are feeling and experiencing what is outside of themselves and not the inner truth of their own being. The advantage of being an empath is you always know where something needs help and balance. You easily hear the cries for help. You can also blend with joy and celebration of others when they are in that frame in a most marvelous way, so this is the upside for you personally.

Empaths though can become easily exhausted and lost and it takes a lot of practice to learn to simulate good boundaries for the sake of their own health and balance. Cells that do not have good boundaries become vulnerable to disease because they can be invaded. Same sort of thing. We have here, a micro/macro example.

I am dedicating this blog to all you empaths. You must, you simply must learn to take as good care of yourselves as you aspire to take of others, once you have felt what is going on with them. You probably did come in to be a healer and be of service and that is why you are an empath. To be as powerful and effective as you are capable of being, and for the sake of your physical health as well (for your cells tend to fall in line with the guidelines of your soul for living), learn to say "no" or "not now" or learn to leave a situation to recharge, and some situations, just leave forever so as not to become a martyr. Learn the signals that you need to take better care of yourself. Become an expert at the finer points of what puts you a a place of flourishing, and serve that with the same dedication you serve others. It is simply imperative that you do so.

Having said all that, a great big thank you for coming on board when there is such need.

Ponderings of a Pelican

3/4/2013

Picture
one of Tybee's expert fishermen
"That last catch was one of my better ones. I must remember the angle I flew in at."

"That fish feels so good in my tummy."

"I wonder how many humans understand that when we shake our tail feathers after we catch a fish, that is our equivalent to doing an end zone dance."

"Usually that kingfisher bird sits here but not this time. Now it is my turn to use this great perch. I can rest and look for fish at the same time. Ha! Take that, kingfisher!"

" I'm sleepy, and my feathers are soaked through. Fishing is tiring but exhilarating.  I remember when I caught my first fish. Man, that was something!"

"There is that human in the yellow kayak again. She sure spends a lot of time out here, and I have not seen her catch the first fish but she does catch a lot of fish breath from the dolphins she hangs out with who breathe on her."

"I like the dolphins. They turn everything they do into a game. They fish the same as I fish for dinner. Only thing is, they work as a team and we pelicans are kind of doing the fishing thing on our own and competing with each other. Hmmmm. What if pelicans worked as a team? Hmmmm. Not sure how I feel about that."

"How many sunrises and sunsets have I seen in my life? I'm not sure but I've seen a lot of them."

"Well, I think I am about done with thinking for now. Time to catch some more fish. Maybe later I'll find some feathered friends and we can fly in V formation over the ocean and catch some thermals but I could use one more fish in my tummy first. "

"Kind of hate to give up the perch but . . . and away I goooooooo"

Message in a Bottle

3/3/2013

Picture
I found this bottle on my beach on my birthday. Sure enough, there was a message inside it. It said:

"Dear Humanity,

I and all my galaxies love you very very much. Please let it in.

     signed, most sincerely, The Universe"

Me . . .I am just the messenger, passing it  along.

The Kite Who Came In From The Cold

3/2/2013

Picture
kite from the Universe
I have this theory that on our birthdays, the Universe shouts messages to us. All kinds of messages. It is always a bit of a scavenger hunt to go through a birthday, moment by moment, and watch and listen for the messages. This year did not disappoint.

One example goes as follows. I decide to head out on this beautifully sunny if coolish day to the beach. There is also a good stiff wind blowing. As I step down my front steps, there, laying in wait, is a kite on the ground with its string extending out all over the place, caught in trees and bushes and in need of being freed. It took a while, but I got the string loose and set out for the beach, new kite friend in tow. As soon as I set foot on sand, the kite ripped up into the sky. Something thrilling about how eager it was to go up high. As I look up, I see dazzling cloud formations. I am cold from the wind but do not care as the sky is intoxicating me and the kite is like a wild, free thing that is having such a romping good time.

I see walking towards me a man with white hair flying in all directions and a definitive twinkle in his eye. He smiles at me and says something about my going to get whisked up with the kite. As often happens when I am in the elements, I feel like I am in an alter Universe. I felt so much joy that was just bubbling up and splashing all around. This is the day that follows and seems very much like a continuation of the prior blog story about the incredible Light at sunset that reached out and touched my consciousness.

These events I like to share with you are so magical, and so generous in what they offer. As I listened to what the messages seemed to be with my sunset/ beach/kite experience, here is what I got.

Absolutely, the sunset let me know Love is very present on this planet, and also that I am loved on this my day of birth. The sky and kite and even the elder gentleman with the twinkle in his eye conveyed the following messages:

First, untangle the parts of your life that have kept you from flying free. Take the time and go to the trouble of undoing, tangle by tangle. Second, move forward without expectation. Next, when you are in the right place at the right time, do not be surprised at being lifted very high very fast.

Look around at what is enfolding you on all sides, the glory and the beauty and accept that this level of freedom from being held back offers endless vistas to explore and create and yet, note that one thin kite string keeps you grounded enough while you are still in a body, and that grounding is very necessary.

Have the humilty to know that you are being privileged to experience such wonderment purely as a gift from Life, not because you have done anything to earn it per se.

The best way to say thank you is to let your cup spill over with the goodness being offered. And lastly, recognize the wisdom and amazing love that comes from elders. Listen to them and remember what they say.

Interestingly, the gentleman I encountered seemed somehow aware of what was going on with me, almost more than I understood myself. He seemed to be the proverbial wise man or wise woman figure in the Hero's Journey. The story writer put him in the scene in perfect place and perfect timing.

And this is how it goes on one's birthday, with eyes to see and ears to hear. The next time someone tells you to just go fly a kite, I encourage you to do so.

When Light Speaks

3/1/2013

Picture
On the eve of my birthday, I noticed a blaze of color in the sky so I went out to the water to bask in this gift of radiance. The sun had already set.

As I watched the colors morphing, I saw a light begin to appear in the middle of a cloud bank. It got brighter and brighter and began changing its shape. It looked like a sun itself in its intensity. I felt something non ordinary going on, and I surrendered to it instead of trying to figure it out.

As I surrendered, I felt the actual consciousness of this Light. I felt its intention to communicate. Just like when I connect with dolphins (doing the same kind of surrendering) I get the message, but  without words per se.

Whatever that light that kept forming different shapes was conveying, I got. I comprehended on that level we have of knowing beyond language. Finally, the light faded back into the general brilliant color surrounding it and then the whole sky melded into dusk, and then into dark.

I took a whole series of pictures of this operatic event. I experienced a very similar event on the evening of 9/11 on that fateful day, and I have felt Light communicate at other times as well. Always, it is about giving comfort and encouragement and faith about what is happening on our planet.

I don't think that that Light I saw was a 'consciousness'. I know it was, and, I believe it is a phenomenon whose time has come.

It was as if the Light at sunset was the announcer of yet another opening as the whole next day on my actual birthday was filled with the non ordinary. I just rode the wave. There is more to share about that in the next blog. The transformative energies are not going to stop having their way with us, and that is the good news.

I share this event to encourage you to trust the non rational, especially when connected with great beauty and power in Nature. The key to look for to alert you it is time to surrender is awe. When our spirit gasps in wordless amazement, well, we are on to something.
