About Muriel

My name is Muriel Lindsay or, as I am locally referred to . . . “the dolphin whisperer.” I moved here to Tybee Island, off the coast of Georgia, 16 years ago to be with the dolphins that live here and to learn from them about a lifelong interest I have had in the human connection with the whales and dolphins. That connection has always felt so deep, ancient and significant to me (even before I met my first dolphin or had seen the sea). There was something about it that lured me to where I am today. One book later (The Chronicles of the Savannah River Dolphins, describing my daily interaction with dolphins over a five year period) and one documentary later (“Land Dolphin” by Michael Scott, Justus Snyder and Diedeliff Cronje, about my relationship with my finny friends here) I feel I am just beginning to scratch the surface of this grand mystery. Much of this mystery became revealed to me when in the summer of 2013, 33 letters from dolphins to humans were given to me to be made known to the public at large. In January 2014, these letters came out in book form as "The Dolphin Letters, Vital Information from Sea to Land", thus changing my life forever as one who aspires to shine a light on what has been too long hidden.

I have been living on this blue/green marble called earth for 70 years. My career path was originally focused on assisting others to heal themselves through recognition of strengths they did not know they had. I was trained as a traditional therapist but quickly found my way into my own offerings of feeling very connected with the energies of nature and how that connection can make us whole and bring us home. I did this work for 28 years before I moved to Tybee Island.
In 1964, I discovered the power and beauty of an in-depth understanding of one’s astrological birth chart. I began studying this source of ancient wisdom and got certified as an astrologer professionally in 1977. I continue doing chart readings to this very day, 35 years later. I never tire of this amazing tool for understanding cycles and where we fit into the bigger picture. In my own life, I have used my understanding of the language of the stars to support many major life decisions. Most of my more daring adventures around the world I was able to undertake because I knew how the timing was in support of my birth chart. Without that knowledge, I am not sure I would have summoned as much courage to have experiences that always took me to the next level of who I am potentially meant to be.
When the beckoning of my friends in the sea was not being answered due to my commitments at the time, I took part of each year for 15 years to travel extensively to the far reaches of the globe. I went where the energies of the land had been the seat of magnificent flowerings of peoples who were connected with Nature in ways current civilization seems to have forgotten. High in the Andes Mountains of South America (I feel a strong Incan link), deep in the Amazon jungle, stepping back in time on Galapagos Islands, breathing the Tibetan infused air high up in the Himalayas (and gaining tremendous respect for the integrity and strength of the Sherpas), experiencing the remnants of the Bird Cult on Easter Island, sailing in French Polynesia and always being welcomed with such warmth wherever we dropped anchor, watching sunsets over the Aegean Sea in Greece that left me limp, feeling Ireland of the past as “Home” in a big way, mushing dogs in the Arctic Circle of Northern Finland (and being aware that never have I experienced such pristineness, untouched by man), white water rafting the Apurimac, the headwaters of the Amazon River ( and feeling my only prayer of survival came from my conscious connection with “Apus”, the mountain gods), . . . these were some of my destinations. These travels transformed me over and over. Even as my journeying expanded my ever deepening understanding of what it is to be human, it also kept bringing me back to my interest in the other “intelligences” that live in the sea, knowing we are deeply connected, for all of our differences.
My interaction with dolphins has not been restricted to the ones in the Savannah River. I got to go with the remarkable videographer Hardy Jones (Bluevoice.org) to Japan to celebrate the launching of Japan’s first dolphin watching boat service started by a very brave fisherman, Izumi Ishii, who had to go against the tide of the Japanese tradition of killing dolphins (in his particular village) in order to start this new business. I have also made multiple sojourns with Hardy and other photographers to be in the open ocean with spotted dolphins off the coast of the Bahamas. We would stay out there for up to a week at a time being able to connect with dolphins without compromising their freedom and getting plenty of genuine interaction in some truly surprising ways.
I completely grasp the significance of these times, and I know I came to serve those who are making a tremendous inner shift in keeping with these tides of change. Age 70 feels young to me and in many ways, like the bare beginning to share what I have gleaned. But share, I must, and give to you in a way very similar to how the dolphins give to me.
This is my offering to you and back to Life.
