Making the Documentary
How utterly delightful was that experience. Not only did I have a great human team to work with, but the dolphins seemed to realize in some uncanny way what was going on and co-operated so well I expected to see them have trailors to go to “between scenes” with a star on the door. I got used to having a camera on my head (my new appendage), even while in the water. I would catch the eye of a passing dolphin who seemed to be wondering if I realized there was a squid on my head.
Who spilled the beans, I wondered, and told the dolphins “this filming is for you.” But then I remembered. I told them almost every time I was among them that this was for them. I talked to them ceaselessly and they seemed to comprehend my meaning whether they heard my words or not. They more than demonstrated that.
I hope the dolphins enjoyed the process as much as I did. It made summer of 2012 something for which to be very grateful.
Stay tuned for an extended version of this documentary somewhere down the road. This is just a taste.
